Ricci got her first recognition and appreciation as a child actor for her performance as Wednesday Addams on The Addams Family (1991) as well as Addams Family Values (1993) and her role in the film Kat Harvey in Casper (1995). Ricci changed roles to more adult roles in The Ice Storm (1997) and then a cult role in The Opposite of Sex (1998) where she earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress. Sleepy Hollow (1999), Monster (2003) as well as others that were well-received continued her career.
